Shouldn't the goal be to make the installation process as small as
possible and allow such changes after installation using standard tools?  
This is perhaps another reason that the installation process should be
refactored into two distinct phases; minimal install and post-reboot
configuration.  It sounded like a good idea when i heard people discussing
it on the list anyway.   Has anything come of those discussions?
