I apologize.  I'll try to replicate in FC2 soon. However, I know 
Mandrake 10 users are having problems with this as well.

Distro versions
RH9: glibc-2.3.2-27.9.7
FC2: glibc-2.3.3-22
MDK10: glibc-2.3.3

In addition, connections without the resolver are also affected.
