Gnome-panel update?

Hi,

Seeing the multitude of issues with gnome-panel that have not been
solved I thought it might be time for an update. There are two
approaches to this: Fixing the current tree, or updating to 2.4.2 which
is a bug fix release.

Considering the first option I have gathered some issues and patches.

You might want to give the attached spec file and patches a try.

I am not sure how difficult an update to 2.4.2 would be in relation to
patches that have already been applied to 2.4.0. Thoughts?
