It looks like Fedora Core is all, except *core* .

There are lots of duplicated/triplicated/... *functionalities*  in
the _core_ distribution(3 MTA servers, 2 TV programs, elfutils/binutils
3 Window environments, xemacs/emacs, 5 shells, star/tar, mysql/postgres
...).
Fedora Alternatives should be the right place for all those packages.
