That's true, yes.  I want to help fix the underlying cause of this
problem, which is why I asked on the -devel list.  I'm not in any 
hurry reboot or anything.

So, what gdb and debuginfo packages do I need?  I remember in the
not-so-distant past one needed a special version of gdb to debug
XFree86.
