Perhaps I should have given more context. Top 5 sorted by memory usage:
PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
15520 seg 16 1 434m 109m 6608 R 5.3 21.7 388:55.96 java
7509 seg 16 0 238m 77m 12m S 0.0 15.4 12:48.70 evolution
21276 root 15 0 82084 61m 5264 S 3.3 12.1 617:11.21 Xvnc
3486 seg 15 0 141m 56m 18m S 0.0 11.2 12:34.99 galeon
21120 mldonkey 34 19 67980 36m 2200 D 1.0 7.3 452:28.46 mlnet
Its still way bigger than anything else on the machine. Java objects =
bloaty.

I hope gcj's ahead of time compilation is capable of cutting down some
of this bloat.
(Notably, look how much smaller mlnet is. mldonkey supports bittorrent,
though I haven't tried it yet. The control freak in me likes azureus,
but my mere 512mb RAM is really hurting... hmmmm...)
