Relying on a measure of current popularity run the risk of entrenching
the status quo in terms of user demographics and technologies.. not a
particularly good idea for a distro that is suppose to be pushing new
promising technology in quickly. And polls of this nature are subject
to extreme 'sweaky wheel' bias where a small minority who care deeply
about keeping their applications in could very well respond in a
disproportionate manner compared to people who just use default apps
and don't care enough to respond. Not sure if its worth the effort to
mount a poll that can't be used in a quantitative way.
