agreed. killing vfat support would be bad. It's the reason i keep
cursing Debian whenever i need to read such a disk.

Besides, vfat is imensely usefull on removable storage - you don't need
a permissions system on that stuff.

But what about mtools? Isn't that "dos-style handling of floppyes"?
