Problem solved, kind of. Tuxracer tries to come up in 640x480 full screen,
which the LCD panel does not like at all. Hitting Esc repeatedly gets me
my shell back, and I can edit the preferences then to disable fullscreen.
Works fine in a window.

Shouldn't tuxracer ask the X server for supported resolutions? 640x480 is
definitely not configured.
