this is most definitely a bug. It will help a lot if you could
1) Install the debug info rpm for the package, and probably a few other
packages (basically for each .so file in the trace you posted)
2) run the server from inside gdb
3) when this happens, type "bt"

4) and probably... file this in bugzilla ;)

this will create a much more readable backtrace so that the package
owner has better information to diagnose your bug.
