Or keep around the GPLv2'd 3.0.x version as compat-libsmbclient  for 
KDE & others in the same position to link against, while the rest of 
the apps which can use the GPLv3 newer libs. Or bundle the older release
libsmbclient.so inside the KDE  package in a private lib directory
