Sigh, m4_fst has silently disappeared from autoconf 2.62.  It was defined as

m4_define([m4_fst], [$1])

in 2.61, and there was no documentation for it.  Does that mean that I could 
just replace occurrences of "m4_fst($x)" with "[$x]" or with "$x" or ...?
