Uhhh.... seems to work for me on Thinkpad X60 (Intel 945) with
xorg-x11-drv-i810-2.4.2-9.fc10.i386.
I see this (new?) message at the end of /var/log/Xorg.0.log however:
exaCopyDirty: Pending damage region empty!
