Dear list,
I have had the idea on the back of my head for some time and I would
like to ask if it would make sense.
I have a laptop that I use for work but also when I travel. I travel by
car, train or bus.
The services I need for work are not necessarily needed when I am in the
train and therefore I though that it would be cool to be able to define
profiles.
You could thus have a profile
* work that would start the list of services you defined (httpd, mysqld,
networkManager...)
* train that would start another list of services that you defined (in
this case I would not like to start httpd, mysqld nor NetworkManager for
example)
Thus in the train my laptop would not always look for a network or wait
for a bluetooth connection and I assume it make my laptop boot faster
and would save the battery a bit.
Being able to define profiles of the services that start in advance (I
know there is the interactive boot option) would IMHO be cool, however I
don't know if it's feasible or if you like it.
thanks for your comments,
Best regards,
Pierre
