I'm sorry - I'd mistaken the deprecation announcement for the change 
itself. My bad.

It is :) And the cynic in me says that the main point in release-noting 
things is to have something to point at when users start complaining 
about changes they don't like..

I don't have strong feelings on this though, and I know my own scripts 
will carry on working fine. ;)
