REquest for documentation.

Pretty please.
I've spent the last week or so in my spare time trying
to find a way to get 'direct' email working,
without the convenience of Evolution.
Some very helpful sites about individual bits and pieces.

is out of date for current postfix,
sendmail-cf is well documented by an Irish website,
but totally standalone.
http://ii.best.vwh.net/internet/robots/procmail/qs/ is good,
but only in isolation
Request please for a grand overview, along the lines of
These are the bits needed.
for piece A, choose from
For piece B, choose from ...
These are some friendly links for ... new users.
Any takers?
I'd love to beta test it.
