Becouse, I have no idea, why the icon is not shown on your
desktop, it will be nice, if you can give me the following
information:

Screen resolution.

Colour depth.

Any setting in GNOME, which may effect the size of the displayed
icons in the gnome panel.

I have compare the kile package with the kyum package. So I have
find out, that in the kile package are more icons with different
sizes as in the kyum package.

I assume, that may be the reason of the icon problem reported by
Michael.
