GNU Smalltalk review needs assistance

My review of GNU Smalltalk is stalled on the upstream configure script
not respecting the flag to disable rpath, and also a bizarre failure
in one of the test cases if the build scripts are modified to rename
smalltalk to gnu-smalltalk.

Could someone more familiar with build scripts take a look? Thanks in advance,
