I tried to check if I still can find some font damage but as long as
gnome-settings-daemon refuses to start (see bug 471676) there is not much I can
do.  Any font property changes, and much more, are just ignored.

OTOH, as I noted before, I stopped seeing the problem a while ago.  At least
nothing blatant like it used to show up.  Still others apparently stumbled into
the same issue after that.
