OT: OEM problems with aic79xx drivers

I reckon 2 is your best bet, indeed recent Fedora/Redhat kernels use SCB
length 32, and it is the default for mainline kernels. (It might be
possible to force this value in the initrd somewhere even it isn't set in
the kernel).
The other thing to try is to get the latest source from
http://people.freebsd.org/~gibbs/linux/
But setting CONFIG_AIC7{X,9}XX_CMDS_PER_DEVICE to 32 is still a good idea.
