That would mean that something is using it. :-) Possibly in
an indirect way.

Building i686 on x86_64 is a bit more involved than that. Jeff
already mentioned 'mock'. If you have an access to a suitable "86"
installation rebuilding there those "missing" packages may be
a simpler option.
