Has anybody had any problem mod-probing pcmcia_core.o on kernel 2.4.23?

This happened to me when I compiled a custom kernel. I fixed it by
deleting the /lib/modules/`uname -r`/pcmcia directory which was just a
bunch of symlinks. All works fine now. The bug appears to be in the
/etc/init.d/pcmcia script start) section where it modprobes for
"module".o .
