Kernel panic

I often get a kernel panic when then the message "Checking for new 
hardware" is running. I have no idea how to get to the output shown on 
the screen: I can't print it, is it in a log? I did a grep, but it was 
only ksyms (this is not a log is it?).

How can I get kernel-panic messages in a file or on paper?
