I almost forgot.  Use 'ps -AF or another way of viewing the processes to
make sure you kill off any programs using rpm (will probably have to do
kill -9 <pid>).  Chances are your program has hung and thus locked the
database.  You still should try what I mentioned above as well after
you've killed any processes using RPM.
