Please do not start a flame war.
Many distros run on the PPC (Mac included) architecture: Yellow Dog, Gentoo, Mandrake, Debian, and IIRC SuSE has a PPC version as well.
My advice to the original poster is to try Yellow Dog, since it is basically like "Red Hat Linux PPC edition".
