This is /bin/hdparm -tT readings?? That's real fast..

One guy with a maxtor usb 2.0 HD on this list had

[root at localhost sbin]# ./hdparm -tT /dev/sdb1
 
/dev/sdb1:
 Timing buffer-cache reads:   852 MB in  2.00 seconds = 426.00 MB/sec
 Timing buffered disk reads:   36 MB in  3.10 seconds =  11.61 MB/sec

which is tm a bit slow compared to ide at 26-29MB/sec
