How to burn a ext3 file system on a cd?

Really? Does it work for you? I was curious enough to see what I would
get, and although cdrecord writes the raw data happily, I get this:
# mount -t ext3 -o ro /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/cdrom,
or too many mounted file systems
