wireless help newbie

Start "System Settings -> Network", choose "eth1", press the
"Edit"-Button in the toolbar.
The third tab should be called something like "Wireless Settings" where
you can change your SSID.

Did you configure a route for your wireless card?
What does "route" (as root) say?
