Simultaneous sounds with ALSA?

This is a problem with the Fedora-specific packages, as I have been able to
play simultaneous sounds on Alsa with Redhat 7.2 and 8.0 on the same computer.
Difference is, I installed Alsa manually. I don't know what they did to mess
this up.
