Some problems getting started

I think ignore the previous post - have managed to answer both questions I 
think :)

Found the freshrpms key and got that set up and installs for some 
freshrpms
packages work fine now. Have another quick question though...when synaptic
downloads the rpms, does it keep a copy around on disk somewhere?
