Foremost reason:  I did not know about e2label :-)   -- until now, thanks for 
pointing it out.

Second reason:  We don't know where the other partition is that is 
labelled /boot ( In my case it was on a USB2 removable HDD on /dev/sda1 that 
caused the same problem)... seemed like that might make for a protracted fix 
to get the guy to hunt it down.

Third reason:  I did the same fix myself and I know it works, I don't think 
there is any downside for this guy to not use labelling on /boot.
