(I wrote a pretty similar response yesterday in the same thread.  You
might want to watch that subthread.)

What sort of mouse is it? If PS/2, try /dev/psaux or /dev/psmouse. If
serial, try /dev/ttyn, where n is 0, 1 or 2, IIRC.

Can you do a ls -l /dev/mouse?
