/dev/cdrom is just a symlink to the actual device..


so you could simply rm /dev/cdrom /dev/cdrom1

and ln -s /dev/hdc /dev/cdrom , etc

I guess the new kernel changed the location of my cdrom drives. I just read the thread about the SATA drives going from hdx to sdx. They still mount in /mnt/cdrom and /mnt/cdrom1, but the devices are now appearing under /dev/hdc and /dev/hdd instead of /dev/cdrom and /dev/cdrom1. Should I just change my fstab entries from /dev/cdrom to /dev/hdc, or is there a way to change them back to /dev/cdrom?
