Gigabit NIC configuration

Dear All

I would like to set speed and other attribute of second Gigabit NIC. When i do following

[root at brahma ZTS]# /sbin/ethtool eth1
Then following message appear

Settings for eth1:
No data available

When i performed following 

[root at brahma ZTS]# /sbin/ethtool -s eth1 speed 1000
Then following message appear
Cannot get current device settings: Operation not supported
  not setting speed

Although my this Gigabit NIC card working perfectly. But i would like to set some attribute of this NIC.
