FC3 + udev + cdrom

I'm attempting to set up a net-bootable FC3. The client
on which this system boots has no hard drive, just a CD
drive as slave on ide1 (I cant change this).

The system boots OK, but during the boot, udev complains:

udev: /bin/cat /proc/ide/hdd/media: Input/Output error

and after booting completes:
#cat /proc/ide/hdd/media
cat /proc/ide/hdd/media: Input/Output error
#ls -l /dev/hdd*
brw-rw---- 1 root disk 22, 64 Dec 7 14:38 /dev/hdd

I can, however, mount CDs on this drive.

I've installed udev-039-10.FC3.2 as per a Google for
FC3/cdrom issues, but it doesnt seem to have helped.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks,
Terry
