I used Enlightenment for ages and loved it. I was reasonably happy
with Sawfish in the Gnome 1.x days after RedHat dropped Enlightenment.
Then Gnome 2.x and Metacity came along and the Gnome crowd decided
to dictate to the rest of us how we would organize our desktops and
how nobody should need virtual viewports and everything could be
done through "rooms style" desktop switching (not). I got fed up, bit the
bullet, and went back to Enlightenment (rpm's were a little out of date
at the time and I had to do some rebuilds). I understand they took so
much flack out of pulling the virtual viewports that they put them
back again (if you wanted to hand edit the config files), but I had a
hard time getting them to work, even with a hacked up Sawfish. They had
the nerve to act surprised at the heat that decision generated. :-/

I may have to go back and revisit Sawfish or something since
it seems that full screen mode for OpenOffice Impress (presentations)
got busted under Enlightenment by an FC2 update a month or two ago
(haven't figured out which one, yet) and it's still busted under FC3.
I can drop back to an un-updated version of FC2 and it works or I can
drop Enlightenment and use a different WM and it works... Something
changed that created a dependency there. :-( I'll probably try
rebuilding Enlightement and Imlib2 before switching, though... At
least one other person on this list had run into that problem but
their workaround for it didn't help me. :-(
