No APM support in kernel-2.6.9-1.681_FC3

Hi,

I recently updated to the kernel-2.6.9-1.681_FC3, and when I tried to use
apm I got the message, "No APM support in kernel." It also appears there
is not a module for it.

Am I missing something, or is that really the case? I guess I'm surprised
to see that it's not there. It seems to me that APM is used by enough
people that it should be included in the default kernels, at least as a
module.

So I'm guessing I need to build my own kernel from source. That's not a
problem, but I have one other question.

I haven't used the last could of releases of RedHat Linux, but I used to
use it a lot, and I seem to remember that there used to be a separate
kernel-source RPM that had the config in it there for the corresponding
kernel. Does that not exist any longer? I don't see it anywhere. It was
sometimes nice to use that in a case like this where I wanted to just
quickly enable one additional option, rather than startng from scratch...

Thanks,

Rich
