Get the xmms-mp3-1.2.9 from freshrpms:
http://ftp.freshrpms.net/pub/freshrpms/fedora/linux/testing/1/xmms/xmms-mp3-1.2.9-1.1.fr.i386.rpm

You could use "exclude" in the yum.conf. man yum.conf
