yum/apt discrepancies

Hey people,
I'm wondering, when I do a "yum check-update", I get one list of
potential updates, including a kernel update. However, when I do an
"apt-get -su upgrade", I get a different list, not including a kernel.
The apt update also includes a new yum version, but the yum update does
not.
I'm using ayo.freshrpms.net for both. What gives?
Mike
