can't open Xterm

How do you connect to the RH9 box? I recommend using "ssh -X" which will
do X forwarding and setting the $DISPLAY correctly.

Also make sure the X server is not running as "tcp nolisten" which is
the default setting. You can change that in /etc/X11/gdm/gdm.conf where
it is commented. Or use the graphical tools from menu: System Settings
-> Login Screen -> Security -> TCP connections to the X server ...
(translated from my German menu).
