| sorry, but this is *still* pretty off-topic for this entire list. while
| many of us have no problem sneering at microsoft, this list is
| specifically for folks to discuss fedora core. really, the purpose here
| is to discuss the *values* and *merits* of FC, not the lack of values or
| merits of microsoft.
|
| i mean, really, there's not much point in barging onto a linux list just
| to say that microsoft sucks. most of us *know* that -- that's why we're
| here. we don't need any further convincing.

I agree with you on this; but, Microsoft has its uses as well. Part of the
problem with Windows is that they tried to make everything as much backward
compatible as possible... Without looking at the 120,000 different
applications, drivers, special proprietary cards, etc.
Windows usually works well as long as you don't install anything on it. As
soon as you start installing applications things get skrewy quickly. Mostly
because of OS files getting overritten by application installs.

I've had to rebuild my Windows machine many times because of things like
this.

| p.s. and while i'm at it, i'm kinda tired of people who think it's cute
| and clever to use names like "micro$oft" or "microsloth" or "microscum" or
| "a large convicted monopolist that resides in redmond". really now, the
| company name is "microsoft". this isn't harry potter -- nothing bad will
| happen to you if you use voldemort's name. :-)

I agree on this as well, I've seen many more that describe Microsoft as an
evil force in the world. If that is the case, this person should be
spreading the GOOD news of Linux and not the BAD news of Microsoft.
Trashing the enemy doesn't get you anywhere other than branding yourself a
fanatic!

Thanks,
James
