installing .run files

It would be good if you could provide us with some details, i.e. what
are you trying to achieve (e.g. "I try to install software XYZ and the
README says I should run file.run to install" or so). It would also help
if you could run this command (replace /path/to with the actual path of
your file) from the command line and tell us the output:

file /path/to/file.run

If this is a one-time task you wouldn't want to associate the extension
.run with a specific application anyway.
