Thanks. I tried kernel-2.6.0-1.30 which does boot without a panic.
However the built in network card on my Asus P4C800-E deluxe doesn't
work and X kept crashing and going blank (I am using the proprietary ATI
driver on a Radeon 9800). So I will stick with 2.4 for now. I'll keep
trying though.
