Initial (basic) approach: run netstat (it has many switches, check the
manpage), it will show you all opened connections. You could also try
iptraf [iptraf.seul.org], it is great for connection monitoring. As for
traffic monitoring, give ethreal [http://www.ethereal.com/] a shot.
