kernel panic on boot with core 2 CD

Have already checked FAQ's and IRC.

Have burned the Core 2 CDs from ISO. Disc 1 starts the boot process until:

RAMDISK: Compressed image found at block 0
crc error
VFS: Connot open root device "<NULL>" or unknown-block(72,3)
Please append a correct "root=" boot option
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(72,3)

Ideas?
