I have for some time tried to install mplayer but all I get is the
following, so I'm actually starting to doubt that there is an mplayer
out there for FC2.
[root localhost truls]# apt-get install mplayer
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
E: Couldn't find package mplayer
[root localhost truls]#
Truls
sounds like you don't have the right repositories listed in your /etc/apt/sources.list. Try adding livna, which carries packages Fedora keep out of the main distro.
the lines to add are:
rpm http://rpm.livna.org/ fedora/2/i386 stable unstable testing
rpm-src http://rpm.livna.org/ fedora/2/i386 stable unstable testing
