how to suspend/hibernate a laptop with FC1?

Bonjour,

I have just installed FC1 on laptop (compaq 2500 series) and I tried to compile
the kernel 2.4.22-1.2197.nptl with the patches
software-suspend-linux-2.4.22-rev1-whole and software-suspend-core-2.0-whole in
order to use the script suspend.sh (see:  http://swsusp.sourceforge.net/)
but I failed: compilation aborted at the beginning (make dep).

Is there a way to suspend the laptop, using acpi, with this kernel and this/any
laptop?
