Thanks for the link. I think that gives me the info needed to modify
the menus system wide.
But I am still not sure about the panel itself. I believe I found in a
users home directory where it keeps the modified panel information. In
the ~username/.gnome2/panel2.d/default/launchers directory there are a
number of *.desktop items that appear to correspond to the changes I
made in that users panel. (additional applications that I added for
their use)
But I have not found where I can change the default panel that all users
get when they are created.
I will keep looking.
