Hi. I am trying to verify my install CD's without
booting them. Would:
md5sum /dev/cdrom
work?
On RedHat 7.3, it seems to fail with the ubiquitous
I/O Error message. I cannot seem to shut the CDROM
door without the CD amtomatically mounting. If I
umount, the CD ejects.
Of course, I realize that the suggested method is
booting, then typing linux mddiacheck, but I wanted to
do it withough bringing down the RedHat machine.
Thanks,
Lin
