HTML postings

Hi.
I have been using lists long enough now to know that it is wiser to post
in plain text but since the subscription page does not mention this it
is a bit over the top to just state in a reply "don't post HTML"
Could the administrators please consider an auto welcome message listing
a few rules of posting.
The main points would be.
Posting in plain text. Some people really can't display HTML.
How to start a new post pointing out the thread problem hitting reply
and changing the subject can cause.
Searching the archives to find out if the question has been covered
before.

Spoon feeding maybe. More like providing the cutlery and pointing new
subscribers at the banquet.
